40s Tilt Hat in Taupe Wool With Veil and Feathers – Better 。This is a gorgeous salmon colored nubby fabric tilt hat from the fabulous 1940s\'! The solid structure covered in this beautiful fabric consists of a short, flat top crown surrounded by a short brim. The inside of the hat is not lined, and allows one to see the mesh material it is made of. On top of the brim there are bands of material & black veiling gathered around the front only. A black grosgrain band surrounds the back of the crown. A band of black grosgrain is attached to keep the hat in a tilted position. Gorgeous! Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.
