STRIKING 1940s\' BURGUNDY FELT FEDORA WITH BRIM CUTOUTS AND FEATHER \"BIRD\"
download picture
description
This is an amazing burgundy felt fedora from the fashionable 1940s\'! The conical crown is shaped in a unique and beautiful way at then top. It is surrounded by a medium width brim with gorgeous cutouts. Additionally there is a feather arrangement at one side that resembles a bird body and tail. A shiny burgundy band is attached around the crown and it ends in a criss-cross at the back. Simply stunning!
The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular.
There is no designer label, but a size label with Size 23 on it.
Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
