Antique French Straw Hat, Edwardian, Panama Straw Bonnet 。This is. spectacular emerald green straw wide brim hat from the fashionable 1950s\'! The round crown is indented at the top, and is surrounded by matching green feathers and randomly placed small black feathers around the side. The very wide brim is adorned by matching veiling in a triangular shape, as seen in the photos. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. Alternatively, ‘pancake’, ‘mushroom’ or ‘cart wheel’ hats sat flat atop the head reviving turn of the century styles. Label: GAGE BROTHERS & CO.
