DELIGHTFUL 1940s\' SAGE GREEN FELT WIDE BRIM HAT WITH GROSGRAIN EDGING + BOW
download picture
description
This is an outstanding sage green felt wide brim hat from the 1940s\'. The low crown is indented at the top and extended below the brim, forming a cap edged in grosgrain. The crown is surrounded by a magnificent downturned wide brim. The brim is edged in stiff matching grosgrain, and gathered at the back with a grosgrain bow. Note: The bow has some discoloration due to age, but it does not affect the stunning look.
The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
Label: Consumers Protection. Label, size 22
This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
